I communicate with Tyren Jones' track coach on a regular basis.....and I can assure you that Jones has not quit the Bama team.

The kid has impressed the Upperclassman (ie. AJ McCarron has Jones running some 7 on 7 reps with the 1st team due to how impressive he's been in running routes, knowing the check-downs, and catching the ball) and coaches with his knowledge and work ethic. He's doing S&C under Cochran and came to camp at 5'9", 210 pounds......down from 215 as he lost some weight in early Spring due to broken jaw.

He's running some 7 on 7 reps with the 1st team, has been the most impressive RB in the RB drills (ie. cones, ladder, etcs)due to having the best, quickest footwork. From what I've heard from 3 different sources.....Jones has been the most impressive of all the freshmen on campus in terms of 7 on 7, the weightroom, and knowing the playbook.

Tyren has measured 5'9 1/2" by Bama not sure if that was barefoot or in shoes........but at "the least" he's 5'8" barefoot....probably more between 5'8 1/2 -5'9".

Here's a good article on the ideal RB height for those saying the kid is too short too play RB at Bama. Not sure how guys like Barry Sanders, Emmitt Smith, Maurice Jones-Drew, Ray Rice, Mark Ingram, Trent Richardson, Doug Martin can excel in college and the NFL at approximate the same height/weight as Jones.....yet Jones is "too small" to play in Saban's system. Dee Hart is 187-190 pounds.....Tyren Jones is 210-215. Pretty significant difference in weight...

Ideal RB Height/Size

Article goes into detail in terms of the "optimal" height and height/weight ratio(ie. BMI).

I am definitely the most excited about Tyren Jones as far as our recent crop of RBs go. Tenpenny could be a stud as well.
