Lol I doubt it. UF and Vandy do not use the minimum NCAA requirements so I doubt Miami does. I honestly don't know 100% on that, but ATM fans were hearing it would take a miracle for him to qualify.

I hear you, but they had as much first hand knowledge of Griffin's grades as you or I did... they were just going off what their 'mods' were feeding them. It wouldn't suprise me at all if his grades were blown well out of proportion.

UofM is no Vanderbilt... they may not use the NCAA minimum, but I'd bet they're close... when I think Hurricane football, I don't necessary think a bunch of high-intellect players running around...

How do you know UF and Vandy don't use the minimum NCAA requirements for admission?

My understanding is that Griffin still has to pass one or more subject-specific state exit tests. It wasn't impossible that he could qualify, but it was an extreme long shot. There's no way A&M would have refused to take his LOI otherwise. The same thing happened w/ 4* DT Kerrick Huggins. It looked like the odds of qualifying were stacked against him, so A&M cut bait and Huggins double signed w/ OU and a JUCO (and it's looking like he's JUCO-bound).

The reason for all this is because, due to the SEC's Houston Nutt rule, if A&M had signed those two, and they hadn't qualified, they still would have counted against the 25 LOI limit for last year. So we would have been down two players in last year's class, and unable to use early-enrollees to fill those slots from this year's class.

If Griffin does pull off a miracle and qualifies, more power to him. I would have loved to have him in Aggieland, but I'll be glad he has the opportunity to make use of his incredible talents.

IIRC Miami relaxed their entrance requirements not too long ago. However, the 80s teams were loaded with players that could barely speak English.
