Just change the thread title to:
"We just signed another transfer"
That should cover it.

Not recruiting related but I gotta say I think MU did a pretty good job with the basketball schedule next year. We have a big home game in UCLA, a great series with NC State, got us a game in KC which is important and also avoided some of the really low rpi teams that we had on the schedule last year that just kill rankings. It isn't a brutal schedule which I think is good for how young and inexperienced we are but it is competitive enough that it gives us a tourney shot if we turn out to be alright. I like it.

I agree. I think it will put the team to a test, but I like that. Would have preferred getting matched up with someone other than WV but the odds of the Big 12 letting us play kU are probably slim to none when they're putting together the pairings.

I'm fine playing WV instead of the beakers, should be a fun game. In fact, someday when the turds from lowrents get over their butthurt and want to play Mizzou again, I say we tell them to go kick rocks.

I'd prefer WV to playing some no name state directional school, but I would have rather played kU, KSU, OU, OSU, TU, ISU or Baylor. Tech would have given me about the same interest level as WV but glad it's WV and not TCU who is god awful.

Recruit chatter for basketball is pretty quiet I wonder when we will get our first commit and not another transfer?

Haith hired Mark Phelps today as an assistant coach

Zach price visiting Friday. He's a potential transfer from Louisville

So what is the thought process? Pitino doesn't know what he's doing and the guy is really good? Or is Mizzou so bad we take their leftovers?

Hes from the 2011 class. Was 6'11 240 out of HS and was a 4 star recruit. Not sure but gotta like his size. Maybe wasn't getting enough playing time?

Oh I like the size. But that was kind of my point. With the size, was he sitting the bench so much because Pitino doesn't know how to coach? Or was he sitting the bench so much because, despite the size, he's just not that good?

"In limited action this season here are Price’s numbers: 5 games; 41 minutes; (4-10 FG); (2-9 FTs); 10 rebounds; 10 points"
so it would seem he just was not a starter, he came in after one of his teammates got injured and never really grasped the position during his teammates absence. Also word on the street is he is a great defender and had a few pretty nice blocks during the season, but just did not click. He was recruited by Miami in 2011 so i guess he has a relationship with Haith. i would not be so quick to say he is simply not good because its Louisville they are a great basketball school, but maybe he didnt fit into their schemes as well as they hoped. not to mention Mizzou could use a big man his size!

Fair enough. I just have got to get over my hang up on all the transfers. And it's not just Mizzou. It's everywhere and I don't think it's going to stop anytime soon. Hope we get him and hope he makes me look stupid for questioning it.

I mean transfers are relatively a new thing to expect however they are now becoming increasingly popular in college basketball i read somewhere that 47% of college basketball players transfer.... crazy right? so much for team loyalty. haha....
Hopefully he commits would love to see mizzou get a big thats actually that big lol. We'll see what happens i suppose

Oriakhi was supposed to be "terrible" offensively before Haith got a hold of him. Haith seems to know what he is doing with his big guys and it makes sense, since Haith is adamant about playing inside-out.
I'll give Haith the benefit of the doubt with any big man right now.

My first reaction about a transer is they lack character(for leaving their team) and a competitive drive(looking for an easier route to play). I just have to realize, there are probably a ton of legitimate reasons a kid transfers too.

Finally some basketball recruiting news involving a new high school recruit! Apparently we offered him recently and he will visit Columbia this weekend. Rated between 70 and 90 through all the recruiting websites, a solid 4 star. Except by ESPN who for whatever reason rates him much, much lower. San Diego State and Colorado, Arizona and Washington are good West coast programs recruiting him.
