Oklahoma tornado tragedy affecting football

So this might be a bit insensitive...
But how much of a factor are the recent events going to be? I'd say tragedies can have a very positive impact on the world of sports. It can unite a community into a common goal, help in the healing, etc. We have a great example in New Orleans and Katrina, and the redemption of the Saints winning the Superbowl a few years afterward.
I know those two events are uniquely linked because the Superdome was used as a shelter during and after Katrina..
But..Do any of ya'll think OSU will see a boost in Houston because of this tragedy and how much of one, if any at all?

State and Ole Miss were a combined 6-16 in 2005 same year Katrina happened. Soooo does that answer your question?

I'll play along with you Taxman.
No, I don't think it will bring more OKST fans to Reliant Stadium. In fact I think a few of their fans won't be able to make the trip now.

You're probly right. But what I mean is will this boost the team in like a spiritual sense or embolden to win, give them something more to play for. You know how ESPN and sport writers love stories like this, they fap to it.

I think it depends on their coach and how he uses it to motivate them. Also how the tragedy impacts each individual player will make a difference.

I think it will matter much more on the 1rst Friday kickoff for high school games in badly hit areas. No doubt there will be emotion in the communities.

You are probably right to a degree. I would need to know if the tornados were closer to Stillwater or Norman. BUT, that being said, you know the media will beat the hell out of it and make everybody nausious hearing about it. Thank God I'll be at Reliant Stadium and not subjected to having to sit throught all the ESPN bullshite on TV about it during commercial breaks.

It was a biiiiiigggg stretch..but heck somebody's got to liven things up around here.
The tornadoes mostly affected communities around OKC so Norman(OU) would see more of a story like what we're talking about bleed over into sports.
I just wanted to know if any of ya'll think events like this can have an effect on sports in general but more specifically the game we have in Houston. My ending thoughts? OSU doesn't need any help, and I hope we destroy them so I can look back and wonder why I ever worried about this game.
