You are right , if he slides at the plate but the goofball missed the plate.

If the manager started that pitcher at the start of the inning FAU wins...bed time , UNC wins ,this umpire will see to it.

The catcher is about 2 inches from tagging him in that picture. Keep in mind his foot has already been on the plate for a foot or so.

I can't tell from that picture. To me it looked like he stubbed his foot on the ground before the plate, the catcher covered the plate and made the tag.

Looked to me that the catcher blocked the plate really well.
