Actually Bama wouldn't have been playing in Miami at all, but your way's good too.

if Ohio State wanted to win in 2012.... they should have followed the rules.

Ohio State is lucky that they were on probation, and that Notre Dame eked out close wins against Purdue, Stanford, etc

Not necessarily true. They still would have had a championship game to play...which they "could" have loss. According to ESPN bama still would have gotten in over Ohio state since they had a weak strength of schedule.
