I don't really follow college baseball outside of prospects, but calling Renfroe a 5 tool guy is a stretch.
Renfroe's average has been around .400 all season that's what I call hitting for average. He is extremely athletic in the of, has a great arm (clocked at 95mph) runs great, and of course he's 3rd in the nation in HRs so that's power.
Looks like a 5 tool player to me.

Those two tools are just not good enough to call him a 5 tool guy imo.
Please tell us some examples of college or former SEC players you consider 5 tool players.

It's cool that Beede is 13-0 and all, but the dude sure does walk a crap ton of batters His K/BB is horrific
He has opposing batters hitting .167 against him and has an era of 1.73 both better than Nola, so he must be doing something right

I've never watched him, so all I can figure is he must work the corners Maddux style and sometimes he gets umps that f him over.

Not him, but the most recent 5 tool guy to come out of the SEC was Jackie Bradley Jr.
Also Beede is the best pitcher in the SEC, no contest. He is flat out dominant.

Uh, no. Power is not close to being good enough to be considered 5 tool. Speed is borderline as well.

Once again, this is against college pitching. 5 tool guy is a .280 plus hitter at the big league level and Renfroe is not that.
Pitch recognition is a huge weakness.

5 tool college player. We not in the MLB yet buddy. He's young and still raw also. Scary upside.

I still can't believe Beede went to college.

Hunter Renfroe-Ms State .394 15 HR 51 RBI
Mason Katz-LSU .378 13 HR 63RBI
You can't go wrong with either one of these 2. Bregman is just not there yet.

Ill go with Hunter Renfroe. 5 tool stud. Top 30 pick in the draft.
And Bregman will win freshman of the year easily.
this looks highly likely

The fact that Kemp hasn't been mentioned after the OP is just a damn shame. He is the best player on the best team in the country. Y'all stress homeruns far too much, and Kemp's stellar defense can't be shown by stats. Even Cohen said he'd only vote Renfroe over Kemp because of bias.

There aren't but a handful of D1 players batting over .400 this year most not in power conferences.
Does that mean none of the top player will hit over .280 in the majors SMH

It means Renfroe does not project as a high average guy at the next level because he has issues with pitch recognition.
What does his college average have to do with anything?

Do you realize how Raw Renfroe is? He went to a small private school, didn't play travel ball, was a catcher in HS when he didn't pitch.
He has come as far in 3 years as any player I've seen come through Mississippi State in 10 years, and he will continue to get better and better.
He projected as a top 10-15 overall pick in the draft, and the scouts know a shite load more about baseball and Hunter's potential than you do.

If they know so much then why do they have him as a 35-40 hitter?

Well he got shelled last year, so believe it.
I think it was a good move for him. Learned how to pitch.
