Marathons - Anyone ever run one?

I'm training for one right now. So far so good. Recently completed a half marathon race. Ive done these before but I'm kind of nervous since that's the furthest I had ever run until now (worried about knee injuries).

Not I, and nor will I ever. My knee would never make it.

I'm working on getting back up to running so I can participate in at least the Anthem 5k here next year (there's the Papa John's 10 Miler and the Kentucky Derby Mini (1/2) and Full-Marathons as well if I get my shite together).
ETA: I've never ran one before though. Just ran when I played sports and ran around 5 miles a day so we'll see.

Yes, I ran a marthon a little over year ago. Besides the CPA Exam, it is the toughest thing that Ive ever done. Training during the summer in the south is unbearable, so I always tried to get my run started around 5am on the weekends so that I would finish up by 9:30-10am. Make sure you buy new shoes every couple hundred miles or so--itll be better on your joints over the long term.
Running a marathon is 80% mental and 20% physical. Good luck

This sounds way more intimidating than a marathon...

Im all over this one. I had my gait evaluated at a running store that has a great reputation. I'd always been a Saucony guy but after they got me into a pair of Brooks I've been very happy. I needed more support in the heel. I'm lookin to buy this in a month or two: LINK
Thanks Bro

I've done a triathlon relay, but I did the swimming leg.

long distance running is the most boring sports ever.

Boring also makes it the most relaxing and mind clearing for a lot of people, myself included.
I've never run one myself, but wouldn't mind eventually working to a level that I could. If I had kept up where I was about a year ago until now I'd probably be getting close to being able to finish one.

I ran the St. Jude half marathon about 4 years ago. Now I can't run 3 miles without giving out

Yes I did. It's called the MR 340, a 340 mile 4 day 4 night endurance river race across the entire state of Missouri from Kansas City to St. Louis. It's the longest nonstop river race in the world. Google it.
Oh I did fish. Finished in 78 hours...which was slow considering the top 5 finished in less than 50 hours.
Glad I simply finished. Over 40 percent of all racers quit or were disqualified by the end of night 1.
Go frick yourself, weakling.

Actually, I've never ran a marathon and it is on my bucket list of endurance races to do.
However, I'm being serious about ultra-marathons. How many people have done an ultra-marathon?
The MR 340 is an ultra-marathon, except essentially you're running on your arms and shoulders rather than your legs (ie. nonstop Paddling). You must be very strong in your shoulders, back, and core to finish this race.

Ok.
I ran from New York to Juarez in Chaco's with only whiskey and fortune cookies for sustenance.

Come to Missouri next summer and race in the MR 340. You'd love it. Most serious MR 340 competitors are marathon runners as well...

I'll be in the Nashville 1/2 this Saturday. Forecast now calls for rain, hoping that changes!
I've done 1 full marathon and multiple 1/2's before. This Sat will be the second 1/2 I've run this month, as I ran the Knoxville 1/2 on April 7th.
