Amazing how Alabama went from being THE school for Super Bowl winning quarterbacks to a program that wins titles in spite of their QB's. AJ is the exception, but before him, we won national championships with weak performances by Shealy, Jay Barker, and McElroy.
But for those of us who grew up watching Broadway Joe and the Snake under center, or Bart Starr a few years earlier, we still think of great QB's at Bama. It will be remarkable if AJ McCarron surpasses those great names by winning a third title.

Kentucky's punting is exquisite... Or at the very least, well versed.

Bart Starr was my hero when I was a kid. Probably more for playing for Lombardi and the Packers than for playing at Bama, but he certainly represented Bama well and drew a lot of attention to them. But yeah, Broadway Joe, The Snake ... but I think you are short changing Jeff Rutledge, Steadman Shealy, Richard Todd, (and what was that other QB on that team?), Steve Sloan and Pat Trammell who was the first real Bama QB I remember actually playing for Bama.
