Does only having 2 home Saturday SEC games hurt recruiting?

Yes.

Means we've got 2 big games that most of our recruits will actually be able to make it to vs 4 normally.

If we win all the Thursday games and perform well in the ones the recruits are there for(only Alabama and LSU), it might not hurt us too badly though. I imagine a bunch of recruits will still make it to the Egg Bowl

Maybe not.

The recruits will come to the OOC home games and watch us win.

It hurts big time because of visit opportunities. Saturday games are best for recruiting visits. If you must do a Thursday night, the earlier in the year the better since most kids line up more visits at the end.

But don't pretend like its a killer. If you went undefeated and only played on Thursday night, you would recruit better than going 4-8 on all Saturdays

Agreed, let's win all the games so we won't have to worry about when we play, or where we play.

Surely there is no way it could actually HURT recruiting. I mean all I've heard about on other MSU boards is how wonderful all this great exposure is and how no way should we turn these tremendous opportunities down due to a trivial little thing like inconvenience to the fans that actually bother to get off their butts and show up at the game. Once these national recruits see us on not one but two Thursday night ESPN broadcasts they will instantly be mesmerized and will probably commit right on the spot. I mean 2 Thursday night games should easily net a Top 10 recruiting class given the great benefits we'll receive from moving these games. I mean who freakin' cares about playing college football on a Saturday. On a serious note though I will say that moving the Egg Bowl to Thanksgiving day does at least make more logistical and viewership sense than moving the KY game.

No. I think I would prefer it if I was a big time recruit. I get to miss some school and be in Starkvegas on a Thursday night.

No it's not.

We werent going to get a huge number of Saturday visits for a game vs Kentucky anyway.

I think playing the Egg Bowl on Thursday opens the door for MORE visits from recruits. They will be off of school that week- and it wont force them to have to pick between visiting us, LSU, Bammer, etc. They can come watch us play on Thursday and then go to one of those games on Friday or Saturday

Not so sure a lot of recruits are big on taking official visits ON Thanksgiving Day. I mean its only the second biggest family holiday after Christmas.
