Not upset over the Shula hire either, especially considering he let Shula go when he realized he had a shot at Saban.


I don't think he fired Shula because he realized he had a shot at Saban. I think he fired Shula because he realized Shula simply wasn't going to get any better.

Other than that, I completely agree. Fran took a 3-8 team and in two seasons finished with the best record in the west. He turned out to be pond scum, but there was nothing wrong with his performance on the field while he was at Bama. Shula was the best he could do at the time.
