That's the rumor anyway. Football will return in 2015 at the FCS level.
quote:
January 29th, 2013 ETSU's SGA approved an amendment to reinstate football on campus by implementing a $125 student fee. The measure passed 22-5. President Brian Noland expects to hire a head coach as early as May and be playing football in the fall of 2015.

This is where I go to school so this has been the rumor on campus. It's pretty hilarious. I'll be graduated by then though. Or I hope.

Why the hell is he doing this?

I am not familiar with that part of Tennessee. Are there enough food stocks to support Fulmer?

From what I hear from an old fraternity brother who was on their 125 board, they won't officially announce anything until the Board of Regents officially approve the football measure during a meeting in early March. I
fully expect a presser regarding conference affiliation (OVC) and a football coach (Fulmer or Jerry Moore of App State) by the Final Four.
As I stated more than once on the Jay Graham and Jimmy Cheek threads yesterday, if Noland had gotten that one vote to beat Cheek out, UTK would be a different place right now. He is doing great things at ETSU. Unfortunately, many of the present day students have the whole suitcase college mentality that came from the previous regime that crippled the A.D. I remember when ETSU would have 8-12,000 in the Dome for a basketball game. Their last couple of title years in the SoCon, even the students came out and jumped up and down and raised hell. I went up to Johnson City for the game against VCU and it was embarrassing. Biggest home game since Michigan State in 01 and empty as hell. What few students were there were not into the game. I think the low morale is a direct cut of football being axed and the removal of the party scene on campus. Students don't have a reason to want to stick around, etc. New arts center, hoops arena (concerts) and football will be huge for that whole area.
I hear the baseball stadium is nice and they are allowing tailgating again. If so, that is a step in the right direction.
