Someone pointed it out earlier in this thread but I think it requires some additional elaboration.
Texas A&M to the SEC is going to hurt OU a lot more than Texas initially. Texas is still going to pull in recruits but now A&M has a solid edge over in state recruits to OU that we didn't have before. Over time this will decrease the strength of the OU program unless they are able to increase their national recruitment to make up for lost Texas players (not looking like it so far).
As the quality of the OU program decreases so shall Texas's over time. It's a principle the SEC has had set for a while now. Good match-ups make better programs. The bigger games your team is in, then the more exposure you get. The more exposure you get, the more hype your team brings in.. etc etc. You get the point.
The OU-Texas rivalry is really all that holds up the Big XII at this point anyways. Once that game wanes and becomes not as significant in the national spot-light.. well it doesn't look too good for those two teams or the conference for that matter.
Time will tell and we'll see.. Texas can bring in a new coach and get things back to where they are used to being. But even then, a potentially weakened OU will still be their downfall if that is the way things turn out.

Texas has the hardware.
Texas leads the series by 39 games.
Texas owns the state.

Texas owns the state.

The better team at the time owns the state. Right now A&M is better, therefore we own the mindless bandwagon fans at the moment.

The rant really has very little understanding of our rivalry.

People that only care about A&M owning the state are not thinking right, and I hope they don't run things. If A&M wins the West and the SEC, owning the state is secondary. Becoming a nationally recognized brand with a powerhouse football program with hardware to back it up is all that matters. That Texas-only thinking was for the SWC and Big 12 days.

To look at it from a completely unscientific, but logical standpoint:
Stubhub -- lowest 2013 season ticket resale price:
Texas -- $586
Texas A&M -- $999
Stubhub -- lowest price for 'biggest' home game
Texas (vs Tech) -- $117
Texas A&M (vs 'Bama) -- $375
So looking at the current market forces, would have to say A&M is at least the much more sought-after ticket. Add in the recent recruiting class outcome, and there's no real question as to where the programs stack up right now.
A&M's looking much more '85-'95 than '96-'06.

It doesn't really matter what A&M does, UT will always be the premier university in the state.

Neither school owns the State of Texas.
