Mizzou does not abbreviate the name MIZZ. That's ESPN. The university would prefer the full Mizzou on the ticker/scoreline.

I do find some irony in the fact that a fan of LSU is asking this question.
Ever heard Louisianians pronounce the abbreviated form of the city of Alexandria? Lots of us say "Alex". Yet countless untold numbers of our fellow citizens call it "Ellick" for some reason.
Jim Hawthorne of LSU Play-by-Play Fame calls LSU Baseball's Taj Mahal by the name of "Alec Box Stadium" even though the former LSU student and casualty of WWI was named Alex Box.
I won't even get into the enunciation & pronunciations of the venerable denizens of "Metry" down in Metairie, Louisiana. The "Yats" down there (named for the types of folks whose accent turns the phrase, "Where are you at?" into "Where yat?") bring new and interesting phraseology on a daily basis.
We've got no room to talk.
Oh, and before other SECr members chime in, if I hear one more commercial from that syrupy-sounding redneck when I drive through Alabama who does the commercials for, "Ayluhbayuhmuh Paur"-which I think is loosely translated to the Alabama Power utility located in Bama-I'll scream.
None of us have room to talk, really.
