I think we can all agree that Sumlin had a pathetic season. Finishing third in the DIVISION let alone the country is terrible when you have a Heisman winning QB, two first round draft picks on the OL (one of the pick one or two), and another #1 or #2 pick on the DL.

Obviously the immense talent on the field isn't to blame. If he has another season like that next year, he'll be out of a job.

This is remarkably intellectually dishonest.

Making the NCAA tournament is the equivalent of making and WINNING a bowl game. OP's analogy fails in the most horrific of ways.

It's a lot easier to make a bowl game than it is to make the NCAA tournament.

1. Depends on the conference.

2. I said make and WIN a bowl game.

With the new rules, Kennedy may not even make the NIT this year. Only 36 teams are chosen, and all regular season conference champions that DON'T make the dance are automatically entered.

Right now, Arkansas, Tennessee, LSU, Alabama, Kentucky, and Ole Miss would all make the NIT over us if they don't make the NCAA.

True, but its harder to make a GOOD bowl game than it is to make the tournament. Its also harder to win said game than any one game in the tournament, seeing as often you are much, much better than your first round opponent.

Just let him be a moron. He's reaching to try to defend his lord and savior, Billy Kennedy.

Actually I just trying out my best CGSC impression. It was pretty easy to make an argument for Sumlin having a bad season when I thought about coaches like you do.

A bad season for Sumlin > the best season Sherman or Fran had.

We'll never have this much talent again, so this isn't a "bad" season for Sumlin, it's the peak. And it still wasn't better than what RC did.

Tell me the last time R.C. either won a January Bowl or finished in the top 5.

I'll give you time to google it.

Trying to equate Billy Kennedy to Kevin Sumlin is a horrific insult to Kevin Sumlin.

The best comparison is Mike Sherman, another coach who should have never been hired, let alone be given a ridiculous contract.
