An Alabama fan claimed it was in like 92 when the pollsters had been hating on the SEC all season and they stomped Miami, they started chanting SEC SEC SEC to mock the media.

I know Arkansas chanted it against Texas after the win in LR in 1991, but it wouldn't be the first time Bama copied us, look at their uniforms they still use today...

I remember that, but we didn't start it. Pretty sure it was used here and there for years to piss other conferences off.
It did become a regular tradition after the UF/tOSU game.
