No, but it's incorrect grammar to give them masculine names. Inanimate objects have the feminine gender in English. No one refers to boats, flags, mountains, and stadia as males, but we run around naming storms in the masculine gender.
These sentences are grammatically correct, but sound stupid:
"When Hurricane Hugo hit South Carolina, her winds and tidal surge destroyed large parts of Charleston. Hurricane Ivan did much the same kind of damage in Pensacola. Her winds pushed the water beyond Main Street and moved portions of the I-10 bridge."
