Haven't felt this way about a team with Mizzou across their chests in a long, long time.

Well, that was futile ........not as much fun as watching kU choke at TCU.
Unfair to blame one play for a loss, but damn, Pressey what a bad pass to make on opportunity to put game away..

It wasn't just one bad pass. Pressey played with his head up his arse the whole game. I turned the game off when he had 5 turnovers, 1 assist and 0 points. I mean WTF!!! Why is he even on the court if that's what he's going to do. Add his complete lack of defense. Then to go from nearly not shooting at all to jacking it up at the end of the game????? Does he not remember LSU???? I really do hope he's so full of himself that he enters the draft. Can't stand watching him.

Haith really struggles as a game manager. Had a timeout left for when Pressey was trapped and threw it away, when they took the lead with 11 seconds left, and when Bell got the O board with not shot at a put back. Never used it. Guess he was trying to take it home to COMO to use against Ole Miss!

I really don't think I can watch this team anymore. Whether it's Haith's inability to coach the x's and o's, Pressey's playing out of control with his head up his arse or Oriakhi thinking it's the Globetrotters, just too frustrating.
Baseball season starts a week from tomorrow. Think I'll give up the football and basketball in favor of baseball. Yes. They will get their asses handed to them too. BUT. They will not be underachievers like the football and basketball team were. I will bet they show more cajones, even in defeat, than Pressey has ever thought of having. At least with baseball, expectations are tempered.

My friend the basketball coach told me this was coming. He has said all year that Pressey has amazing talent, and all the skills he needs to be an outstanding PG. Except mentally. He just doesn't think, and that's why he'll never be great.
He's also not a Frank Haith fan, and told me last year he wasn't a good coach. Recruiter yes, but not coach. I told him all the reasons I thought he was wrong. Now I'm feeling stupid.
This is just f'ing unbelievable.

I like everyone on the team other tha FPP. I also think Haith has done a darn good job for the most part. He has no options other than to play Flip. The only thing Haith has done that I don't really agree with is too much zone, but I understand the wanting to switch it up.
This team was much more disciplined offensively last night. Haith's message was starting to get through.

In addition to Flip, not a big fan of Oriakhi. I think he's got talent but my fascination with him disappeared when he started acting like the Harlem Globetrotters, trying to fist bump refs when they called him for a foul. He seems to have cooled that down lately, but still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. In addition, he should be owning guys like Roberson and Chubb.
I do like Criswell. Brown has a quiet intensity. Bell pretty much always brings the intensity. Of course, you have to love Bowers, who isn't getting enough touches imo.

This is a team that lacks LEADERS. At the collegiate bball level, there is a lot of parity in terms of talent. Truly elite teams either have elite talent (the likes of Kentucky and other blue bloods) or elite leadership that makes up for a lack of talent.
Let's be honest. The MU team right now has (maybe?) above avg talent and horrible leadership. That equals a fragile road team that we are witnessing now.
Pressey is not a leader. Never has been a leader. An incredible talent, sure, but he is missing that 'it' quality that great leaders like Shane Battier have.
The only hustle I see with this team right now is Keion Bell, the guy I thought would be a slacker at the beginning of the season.
Bowers is smooth, but doesn't actively lead or take over games. Oriakhi has fire, but sometimes that burns the team in key situations. Brown is the silent assasin, who would thrive when paired with an on-the-court general type like Kim English.
It's really just going to be a tough slog the remainder of the way because the Tigers have no identity and no leaders, which equates to sloppy defense and poor decision making in tight games.
Some things I would like to see:
Punishment. Spend the next week of practices going over defense and late game situations.
Sit Pressey. Send a message. Heck, sit anyone who isn't hustling. Haith needs to take over the leadership role. At this point in the season, there is little downside in this approach because the way the team is playing, they won't make the tourney.
Over and out.

Solid post indeed, I just wish I could see what haith is doing in practice. I get the feeling he is a "players coach", which is why we have no discipline.

Me too, FT. As fans, we want to see some grit, hustle, and just a sign that these players care.
I love MU Tiger basketball. It really sucks to see this uninspired, apathetic play each week.
My greatest concern is not whether or not Flip Flop goes to the NBA, it's whether the team can finish strong to keep the recruiting momentum going.
A lackluster finish could compromise the gains that Haith has made in recruiting. We witnessed this with the football program this season. Start playing hard guys, if not for yourselves, for the future of MU basketball.

Well our prayers have been heard (at least for 1 game). They played hard, tough, and kept their foot on the Rebel throat all game. Let's see what happens tomorrow night in Starkville.
FWIW, I liked that the boys came to each other's aid during that AO skirmish. Rounding out an identity. Every team needs an identity. Channel that fire into controlled intensity and we got ourselves a legit sweet 16 squad.

I liked seeing that too. Like to see they have each other's backs.
Pressey still concerns me. He took double the number of shots as anyone else on the team and was still under 40% from the field. The biggest part of his game as I saw it wasn't the points but he did a much better job protecting the ball. I think he only had one turnover. For this team to be successful down the stretch, though, I'm afraid Pressey can't be taking the most shots on the court, much less double the number of shots.
