put down the freeze kool-aid. This team beat you in Oxford... and they return a ton of players on both sides of the ball (with the exception of RB and QB which have been discussed)...
I'm curious how someone can think blowout based on last year's performance and what both teams have returning.

The University of Wyoming is 2-0 versus Ole Miss.

I really can't argue with you. Vandy is clearly a team on the rise.
OM, on the other hand, really has issues. Our QB is coming off injury and a surgery that could hamper his career. Doubt he will be ready by August 31st. Best case scenario is very rusty. And he has a history of throwing picks, which will be exacerbated by his lack of practice time leading up to the opener. So we can't count on an air attack.
And we don't have a #200 back to carry the load on the ground. Our best option is a #165 biddy back, or a true freshman coming off a major leg break in high school. Doesn't look good on that front either.
Our defense should be somewhat improved, although we will still be weak at cornerback. And counting on some true freshmen to play well their first game on national TV? Should give up some big plays.
Not to mention that we were terrible on the kicking game last year, so we should give up a PR or KR for a TD.
Add in to that fact Vandy's homefield advantage, as well as your recent dominance of us both on and off the field, and it seems far fetched to expect a close game.
Vandy takes this one in a walk, 35-10.

I didnt know you guys had all those problems. That has to suck when your facing a top 20 defense that will be even better. Dont forget that we also came back on you guys with the guy replacing Stacy. When stacy went down (on the first drive of the game btw) it was Wesley Tate who carried the load for us. I would also like to point out that that was tates first year playing RB since he was a freshman. He was moved to WR because of our lack of Depth at one point and was moved back to RB last year. The guy is going to be one of the biggest suprises in the SEC mark it down. Had 8 Touchdowns playing a filler role for Zac stacy. As far as the QB goes. You can take him lightly if you want but he played some big schools and did well. Our Oline/Dlines will be SEC worthy for the First time ever to btw.

Looking forward to a great season opener, likely to be a 1-score game either way.

I can't argue with any of that. I am changing my prediction to 45-7 Vandy in light of your recent insight. I reserve the right to add or delete maybe one touchdown from each team after I have had a chance to watch fall practice. Other than that, my prediction stands.
ETA: You are neither a current, not former student at Vanderbilt, now are you?

I'm basing us winning this game on a few key things.
First off every Ole Miss views last years game as a game we SHOULD have won. Don't get me wrong I applaud Vandy for taking it. I don't want to take anything away from Vandy. But we feel we should have won.
So now fast forward to next year and they have a first time starter in the SEC at QB. Ill give you the RB. Kid seems legit. But we all know without a QB you can stop the run.
And I don't care what is said but a transfer from Wyoming in his first SEC start is not a good thing for the home team.
Then add all of the talent that we have coming in. Out secondary has been weak but adding Connor and Brassell will be instant impacts.
I have no problems admitting I'm a positive fan. Just the way I am. I can always talk myself into a win. But this time I don't have to convince myself that much.

Nope sure didnt. Just a nashville native who grew up going to Vandy games and hates everything about chUT. As for your prediction. I know you are being silly but this will still be a close game regardless. Im just saying dont asssume we lost as much as people think. In most cases we have actually upgraded.

You have conviced me
35-3 vandy your top 20 defense will shut us down! Your all star freshman will rush for 200+ yards and your transfer from Wyoming will pick apart out secondary!

If you can throw you can trow right? The kid is accurate and has a big arm. Only diffrence is the pressure. If he gets time he willl be more than servicable. Your class was nice but keep in mind that they are still true freshman that will make mistakes.Especially the CB's who will be facinhg the BEST WR Corps in the SEC. Also about last year. get this. Our best offensive player went down on the first drive, Our team was devistated. After half time our coach got them settled and we destroyed you in the second half. Should have won? Maybe if we continued to sulk over the loss of Stacy.

The only freshman DB we will start is TC... And I disagree y'all dont have the best wide receiving core I mean I understand your prideful but let be realistic here....
Posted on 2/7/13 at 10:03 am to Landsharks
I would say that Matthews and Boyd are the best receiver combo returning to the SEC.

I never said they were bad I actually don't have a problem with vandy but I mean there are to many variables to say that vandy will beat out arse and vice versa....... like how will a Wyoming QB adjust to SEC speed... There is quite a difference in talent between the SEC and the MWC..

exactly... all signs point to a couple of evenly matched teams. This will be a one-score game, IMO... not a blow out like some goofball suggested earlier... did ole miss blow out any decent team last year, or over the last three years? Bo Wallace didn't majically become Eli Manning this offseason.
ETA: as soon as I posted this, I remembered the State game...
