They have a lot of pride but they wouldn't be Americans if a guy from Tennessee hadnt saved their arse 200 years ago.

Thank u Sam Houston and Andrew Jackson.

Did you know the War of 1812 was actually already over by the time the Battle of New Orleans happened? America had already won the war, the British had signed a treaty. Word simply hadn't reached the troops.

So, even if the British had won the Battle of New Orleans it wouldn't have mattered. NOLA would still be part of the United States.

So this thread is wrong.

And it's come to my attention that Texans don't want to be Americans, so that part is also wrong

True, but I highly doubt the Crown would have recognized a treaty after winning that battle.

You really overrate Andrew Jackson's impact on New Orleans. I would say the pirates played a more significant role.

Internet is just the tip of the iceberg. We also are home to Moon Pies, Krystal, and Cracker Barrel. It doesn't get much better than those three.

You are aware that both of those guys were dirtbags, right? Sam Houston married a 16 yo, who left him days later, then fled to Oklahoma, where the Indians called him "Big Drunk." Jackson stupidly caused an economic depression, waged genocidal war against the Indians, then defrauded the state of TN out of thousands of dollars to pay off his mountainous debts by having them buy his house but allow him to live there and make all the profits from the farm so long as he lived - literally, he turned The Hermitage into a housing project.

On the other hand, they're typical Viles.
