Those who live near the man holding a young child hostage say they feared Jimmy Lee Dykes. They talk about what they consider the "strange" things he did including beating a dog.

Update
Dale County - Law Enforcement is still on the scene going on into day 3. Negotiations are still going on, but so far no change. The brave young man is reported to be doing fine. The suspect is giving him his medications and appears to be taking good care of the boy.
Law enforcement would like to thank everyone who has volunteered and donated food and water while this going on. Most of the law enforcement has been on scene since this all unfolded and has not left.
Sheriff Olson ask that everyone still remain vigilant and keep praying for the young boy and that this can be resolved as quickly as possible is the safest manner for both the boy and law enforcement.
Candlelight vigils have been held and will continue to be held until all is resolved. We don’t have a list of locations or times for any of theses.
We will try to keep everyone up dated on the situation as information comes available.
