At first glance I thought this was crazy, but with super conferences coming.....

Why is 16 the threshold for super conferences? I don't get this. 14 teams seems like a super conference to me.

IMO the secret reason the Big 10 wants 10 conference games is that way there will be less of a chance they can look bad OOC thus making it easier for the media to push the idea they are still one of the very best conferences.

If we ever get to 10 conference games you can kiss major OOC rivalries and interesting mid major match ups goodbye.

Hell, mid majors like Boise would NEVER get a shot at playing a big name school again.

This is just to prop of the Big 10 and squeeze out and potential competitive threats.

because let us be honest, a couple extra games against schools like Purdue, Maryland and Indiana are going to do jack shite for a SOS in reality. Those schools are currently worse than mid majors like Boise, SMU, or Fresno even with all the major advantages they already have.

Now of course, in the made up fantasy world of a selection committee and the media, an Indiana will get more street cred than an upstart mid major even if the MM is clearly the better team. They'll just look at the name and conference patches on the jersey and give the benefit of the doubt every time.
