More on 8x2. If the conference goes to 8x2, there will be one permanent opponent apiece. I think these would be the pairings....

Alabama and Tennessee
Arkansas and South Carolina
Auburn and Georgia
Duke and Missouri
Florida and LSU
Kentucky and Mississippi State
Ole Miss and Vanderbilt
North Carolina and Texas A&M

I'm drunk... Explain this 8x2 shite.

Eta: or is that just 2 divisions of eight with cross divisionals? If so.... Oooo nevermind.

How, in the 8X2 scenario, assuming we keep the one permanent opponent, do we get around the issue of not playing other division schools once a millenium?

I agree with you and others that I don't think the pod system will happen, but, I'm not sure how they can keep teams playing each other more than once or twice a decade without some pod type system.

Even without permanent opponents, you'll have 7 division games.
