What if he can't help but produce record-breaking QBs??

When Keenum got hurt in 2010, Houston went 5-7. Sumlin's offense needs a really good QB to be effective.

Maybe it isn't Sumlin making the QBs look good, maybe it's the QBs making Sumlin look good. Either way, Sumlin deserved the raise.

Your evidence does not support your claim. In 2010, Houston lost both their top two QBs to season-ending injuries during the 3rd game of the year. They lost their third string QB a little later in the season.

Keenum, while he was good enough to produce in college, wasn't good enough to sniff the NFL. It seems that the system does not need a really good quarterback - it merely needs a QB who doesn't suck so much that he is 4th string for the Houston Cougars.
