Mizzou was originally designed and planned after Thomas Jefferson's plans for UVA.
FWIW, it's also a very nice campus. I'm biased though.

the idea for UVa's "Lawn" or academic village came from USC's "Horseshoe". Jefferson hired the first UVA president from USC.
