So if state is 6-5 going into the Egg Bowl and they lose, does Mullen's seat just begin to get warm, or will state fans be calling for his head??

I'd say there's little chance of that happening... going 6-6 would meet expectations. He would have four straight bowl appearences. I think state fans would be happy with that.

Historically I'd tend to agree. Ironically though, a coach on the rise can be his own worst enemy in some cases (without continued win/loss improvement) because they inevitably raise the bar for the program. Add to the fact that Mullen has been less than humble regarding his accomplishments and I personally believe at the bare minimum his seat would get warm, but there'd begin to be a vocal group within the fan base calling for a change (i.e. Hudspeth).
