When the current contract with the Met runs out?
Besides parking being a plus for Hoover what are other pros/cons if tourney moved downtown?
Hoover Met seats 10k
Regions Field in Bham
Seats 8k
Opens 4/13

I'd like it to stay in Hoover. 2K more seats and I still think the Met is a good place to watch a baseball game.
For the out of town folks, there are a lot more hotels in the Hoover area vs downtown. More places to eat, better shopping, etc.

The biggest problem with the new park is that it will be too small for the SEC tourney if it only seats 8k.

Hoover is a nicer area-more friendly for traveling fans

Take it to the new park. For the majority of the sessions the seats aren't packed at the Met anyways. For those saying seating would be an issue, I kindly disagree.

I love it at the Met and my group does a lot of tailgating there. I'm not familiar with the new park but would be against moving it if it cut down on tailgating/RV space, which I'm sure is the case in a downtown venue.

There are more hotel rooms downtown than in Hoover... Plus I think there are decent places (food/bars/clubs) within walking distance.. I think bham needs it more than hoove

Autozone park in Memphis please

Birmingham would probably have everybody park/setup their tailgates at Legion Field and run a shuttle service over to Regions Field every 4 or so hours.

Put it in downtown. There is the new railroad park next door that would be great for tailgating.
TV parking can be had at UAB. Maybe...

Railroad park would be awesome for tailgating minus the rvs

Have you been to the railroad park? There isn't much parking space there at all.
and to play games during the work week downtown? that would be a parking nightmare.

Im pretty sure the city would be able to handle parking.. Plus, most of the fans would probably be parked at their hotels downtown

The RV park at the Met is its biggest selling point. Those spots usually sell out a year ahead if time plus the room in the overflow lot.
I don't think the new stadium will have any RV hookups.
If they move it downtown they might as well move it to Memphis.

They could make RV lot(s) downtown if needed..

might, could, pretty sure, etc...
the reality is that there isn't a lot of hotels within walking distance to the park. i think the closest is 4 blocks away. the other hotelss, 6 or more blocks away. a lot of visitors are not going to want to walk 6 blocks through that neighborhood to get to the stadium or back to their hotel. maybe some of them have watched "The First 48" shows that have filmed in Birmingham the past couple of years.
parking is terrible there. most people would have to park at cooper green or uab. and good luck parking at uab during the work week.
and i don't think there is any RV parking anywhere closer than Legion Field. and birmingham is not going to create an RV park close by for 1 event a year (unless the mayor or city council can benefit somehow).

Parking will be a major problem.

Ehh, I can see positives and negatives at both places..but honestly I'd rather just leave it in Hoover.

4-6 blocks is shite.... Its some lazy fricks if so.. I have walked from the compass bank hqtrs to southtrust tower ffor lunch and it only took 10 mins if that.. Rarely are the crimes on First 48 happen downtown.
