I had assumed that the SEC had an eight team tournament. Ten teams is certainly enough for a 14 team league. I would hate to be one of the four teams to trek all the way to Birmingham only to be one and done.

I can't imagine a day when the NCAA would take more than ten teams from the SEC. This seems like a completely pointless expansion to me.

The most enjoyable tournament format, IMO, is the old NCAA six team regional format that they used through 1998. That's the size that the first two Big 12 tournaments were as well before they expanded the post season from 48 to 64 teams.

It's been 8 until last year. They went to 10 because of expansion. But I guess they realized last years format was hated by all so they changed it again.
