Slive has a history of hypocrisy. Remember how he conveniently failed to enforce the SEC's own bylaws in the Newton case just before the Georgia game last year. At that time it looked like AU was the only SEC team that could make it to the BCSNCG (and the money that goes with it for the conference and his own bonuses).
At that time I thought he was a AU homer. But appears he's simply an SEC homer, though as an UGA fan I don't think the Dial hit was even a flag, let alone a suspension.
Murray's helmet recoiled forward and contacted Dial's because Murray's forward momentum was instantly stopped by a guy twice his size.

This is false. I went over this many times back in 2010. Posters on this board lacked the reading comprehension necessary to read and interpret the by-laws, which I explained in great detail back then.
Bottom line, in the Newton situation, the by-laws were not incorrectly enforced.
