For what it is worth, I still think Moore and Joeckel go pro, and Jake returns.

From @gomerschlep: do you see Texas A&M as a legitimate SEC/Nat'l title contender over the next 5 years!
No doubt. Maybe even in 2013. If the Aggies return both of their standout junior offensive tackles, Luke Joeckel and Jake Matthews, for their senior seasons, I think A&M opens up in the top four next season.
Two weeks or so ago, I'd heard that both were leaning to staying because Matthews' dad, former NFL great Bruce Matthews, had talked to Joeckel's family about how college is the best time of his life. We'll see what both do.
Obviously with Johnny Manziel returning, along with a deeper crop of backs (adding in Oregon transfer Tre Carson and Oklahoma transfer Brandon Williams), the Aggies will be explosive regardless. Kevin Sumlin is also upgrading the talent on both sides of the ball. That's going to provide much-needed depth on defense especially. Another key decision will be whether DE Damontre Moore opts to stay in College Station for one more season. My hunch is Moore is the most likely of the big three juniors to leave. If all three return, the Aggies are a legit BCS contender.
Even if they don't, Manziel still has three more seasons and there's a lot of good young talent around him. Better still, the Aggies have become the "It" program in college football. Recruits want in. Of all the coaches out there who have yet to win a BCS title, if you asked me which is most likely to win his national title in the next five years, Kevin Sumlin would be my first guess.

Here's to hoping A&M doesn't live up to the hype.....
Nothing like having a target on your back in the SEC

It's what makes college football fun. No sooner do we end one season before we start thinking about next season.
Word to the wise, Arkansas returned a ton of talent this year and look what happened to them.
If you return those OLmen you should be stout. The issue your going to find in the SEC is that no team is sitting still, and if one team is down, another one will be up so there are no cakewalks in this league no matter how much talent you return - it'll still be a battle.
There are always four or five teams in the SEC that are MNC contenders heading into the season. Always, each and every year. Easier said that done.

If the Oline stays relatively intact, they'll certainly be contenders.
Question for the aggies - how much do you think losing the OC will hurt?

Y'all are going to lose to Alabama in week three.

Depends on who replaces him.
Kevin Sumlin had 3 offensive coordinators in four years at Houston but there were 2 constants: Kevin Sumlin and Case Keenum.
The thing about his offense is that is gives the QB a lot of authority to adjust the play at the line.
Personally, I think that if we get someone like Noel Mazzone (UCLA) as the new OC, you'll see the rushing numbers and Manziel's passing numbers jump way up...even if #2's rushing yards go down.

I doubt it hurts at all. Kliff is great, but he had only been Sumlin's offensive coordinator for two years, and Sumlin has had great offenses for longer than that. Plus, it appears as though he is the only coach we will lose. Finally, the OC job at A&M will be very attractive, so Sumlin will be able to go a lot of different directions with the OC hire. It'll be interesting to see what he does.

I don't think KK hurts much. Sure, you like continuity, but its Sumlin's offense. He's the architect, KK was just the manager and from what I'm told KK only scripted the first x number of plays.
I think KK should send Manziel a thank you card because Johnny made KK a head coach with his improv skills on the run.

Not without Barrett Jones getting away with holding the entire game.

Maybe. Probably, even. Bama is the best program in the nation right now.
But we'll see.

Not as much as some would like to believe.

KK ran Sumlin's offense.

Too bad Barrett will be gone. No way his replacement could be any worse than he was this year against us

A&M had a great first year under Sumlin.
Usually it goes: mediocre 1st, great 2nd.
So with a great 1st, A&M is looking towards a mediocre 2nd season.
