Yost offered OC job at OSU. What am I missing here?

I just read the article. I don't get it.
Let's face it. Oklahoma State's program is better than Mizzou's program. I have a lot of respect for Mike Gundy.
I don't understand what he sees in Dave Yost. Yost wasn't OC during our 2007 dream season, right?
Ever since then we've been on a steady downhill slide from 12 wins to 10, 9, 8, and 5. Those are the Yost years.
Therefore, I'm confused. Do football experts view Gary Pinkel as the problem and Yost as wasted talent?
I'm not sure if I should be slightly jealous. Did we just squander an offensive genius?
I'm confused.

I think the yost offense fits better in the big 12 than the SEC. Plus he will not be calling plays if he goes to OSU, that will be gundy

So essentially Gundy wants Yost's recruiting expertise.

Yost turned down Cal Recuiting Coordinator job

He's getting some nice offers. Maybe he was just overwhelmed with too many duties.

I wasnt kidding when I said Yost was regarded as a Top 5 assistant coach. He was put on the list before the season this year with Kirby Smart and Manny Diaz. The outside opinion of Yost is vastly different from our view. Vastly different.

Seems like he'd fit in at Berkeley.

I wasn't goin for accuracy. I was simply trying to show that since the 2007 season and without Dave Christiansen, we've been on a downward slide with Yost.
Now watch...he'll win a championship at Okie State and we'll become the new doormat in the SEC.
Mizzou is the Cubs' Halloween costume.

Yost is a good coach. I think Yost was just the fall guy before GP gets the axe next year.
Gundy is like old bill snyder. He will make teach the OC how he wants his offense to run. Yost will do great under Gundy.
Gundy stopped calling offensive plays in-game a couple years ago.

I agree.
Yost was wearing way too many hats - OC, recruiting coordinator, QB coach. No other OC has that many responsibilities. Perhaps Pinkel was using him and running him into the ground because he trusted him more than his other coaches. And the challenges of being spread too thin really started to wear on him and it showed on the field.
He's always been said to be a great guy, and I wish him well. But this makes hiring an outstanding recruiter even more important as he's got those ties and will now use them in out backyard.
If Chaney becomes OC, we better get a home run hire in an QB/recruiting coach. I still like Mike Groh from Alabama for OC too.

Keep an eye out for Hinshaw. Apparently a deal was agreed to in principle, but he never signed.

Yost cannot make gametime adjustments to save his life. Albeit, he may be a good recruiter and all and finds alittle success now and again, he to me is still not a top quality coach. What accolades has he got that should put him on that pedistal? B12 north title?
Oh lord. Just read the article. Are you kidding? They invited the OSU staff to Columbia to exchange ideas on spread offensive schemes? No wonder we got the shaft our first year in the SEC! Inviting another D1 school to talk offensive schemes? That'd be like asking someone from KU to dinner in Columbia!

Obviously, OSU hasn't watched film of the Navy game. Rush 3 drop 8 into coverage, Yost is passing.
Rush 2 drop 9, Yost is passing again.
