IMO there's been such a rush for everything to turn into investigative reporting (for the "shock" value and hits) that sports reporting is starting to lack in other areas as a result. Obviously you have some exceptions to the rule but for a large part their concentration is less about basic reporting and more about who can we bust cheating.

They do a horrible job.

I hated how commentators and uninformed writers would talk about Joker being on the hot seat, and how he just needed time to turn the program around. That you couldn't give a guy just 3 years at a place like UK and expect him to win.

Even though the Joke inherited a UK program in the best shape it has ever been, he ended the longest bowl streak we have ever had. Then each year his teams got steadily worse in every way.

Yet many members of the media acted like we ran the dude out of town.
