LSU loses nearly nothing on the offensive side. Injuries on the OL during 2012 meant they had to plug in some underclassmen far earlier than intended. The OL play suffered because of it early on. The starting LT is expected back from injury and the two young guards are now playing very well. The OL is expected to be a strong point for LSU in 2013. Out of the RBs only Spencer Ware is expected to go pro. Starting FB and freshman RB Jeremy Hill will return. All the WR's will be back except Russel Shepard. They are expected to pick up a tall Juco WR. Mettenberger will also be back.

The defensive side is full of question marks. They will lose their two All American DEs and possibly a starting DT. There will absolutely be a drop off along the line. They will likely have to replace one CB and one Safety. The dismissal of Mathieu forced Chavis to start some freshmen CBs in 2012. Those freshman should improve with a year of starting time.
LB play should be a strength of the defense in 2013 as LSU had a monster recruiting haul at LB in 2012 and many of those kids were already seeing the field.

Overall the offense should be the best that LSU has fielded since 2007.

The defense will likely be better in the secondary but see a drop off along the line.
