You couldn't be more wrong.

Spurrier came to South Carolina because he likes BUILDING a winner. He knew South Carolina has been terrible and wanted to come in and make something of them. Not go to some place where he would just show up and win.

He came to South Carolina because he knew it would be a tough place to win.

you guys are both right.

spurrier's coaching m.o. is to take a team thats down and build a winner. its really a win-win situation. if he turns the program around, it builds his legacy and cements his all time status. if he doesnt, than its not a big deal as others have failed there and there must be problems inherent to the program outside his control.

as previously stated about south carolina, it was a very attractive job for spurrier for football and non football reasons. im going to guess that since he had already reached the pinnacle of his coaching career while at florida, the non football related(augusta national) factors weighed heavily in his decision to go there.
