I have much respect for you and enjoy your posts. However, do not let what Johnny did this year conjure up dozens of JFF all over the landscape.

This wasn't so much about A&M or Johnny and I've thought this for a few years. a&M has the talent on offense to run any style and they'd probably be very good in all of them.

This has more to do with seeing what Art Bryles is doing, OK State won the Big 12 last year, old Miss is much better, Houston, TTech under Leach, OU in the early Stoops spread years, Oregon, Clemson, West Virginia.

Sumlin is the first to run this offense at place that can consistently pull in top 10 recruiting classes. This experiment will be watched closely by athletic directors around the country.

Ever heard of this school called Florida? I think what Urban showed at Florida is that this system can work against real defenses if you have the right players. And when I say the right players, I mean on the offensive line.

Because if Oregon has taught us anything, it is that penetration on the defensive line is kryptonite to the spread.

Did you not watch Oregon-Auburn or Oregon-LSU? Did you not see Florida's near collapse after Tebow graduated?

Have you seen what has happened to Texas in the post-VY/Colt era?

Finesse spreads get blown up against real defenses. Penetration disrupts the timing and rhythm of the whole song and dance. Power spreads can work if you have a BIG oline (see Florida, Auburn 2010, A&M this year) and an elite running QB (see those same teams).

If you don't have those things, your spread team is fricked.
