Living in Ttown, I see these guys are getting screwed. Look at how many 8,3,10, an 28 jerseys were sold? I know UF sold a ton of Tebow jerseys. Lattimore, Bray, Murray, Matheu, Wilson, etc. All these guys have made millions of dollars for the school.
Should they be paid?

Right. Because the recruits go to big-time schools because the coaches promise them an education.

If you pay men's football players, do you have to pay women's tennis? Serious question.
Very few athletic programs actually have positive cash flow. I am not sure that paying men's football and basketball players is viable.

It's not just the free tuition, but also all of the other free shite they get, like ROOM AND BOARD. People fail to see this. Lets see what some of these kids do on the streets. Hell, lets throw them into the AFL for a year and see what they do making $100 a game.

There is no perfect system, but, my god do you open it up to total corruption (if it isn't already there) if you allow players to be paid.

If that was fair market value, then schools would offer far less.
Don't be dense.
The schools that got it right are the ones who were great when the kids were literally part of the student body... and suck now. See Harvard and the military academies. They didn't pursue the almighty dollar in sports.
But with as many people as we're packing in, the amount of TV ad revenue, and the merch sales, then we are absolutely full of shite to pretend its an amateur endeavor.

Pay could be proportionate to what their sport brings in.
Also, what about the video games? They only put their number, but the player has all the attributes. Those kids don't see a dime of that money.
Look, as an attorney, I just think it is a bit unfair. These kids don't go to the schools for an education. They go for promises to get to the next level. Besides, we always hear "college football is a business." If that is so, maybe they should start paying the players some sort of stipend. Fair is fair.
I see things what happen to guys like Sharif Floyd (sp?) and it makes me sick.

Didn't the USA Today do a lead story on what an athletic scholarship is worth each year. It's something to the tune of 50,000 a year for each individual player on a football scholarship. This goes beyond simply room-and-board, of course.
Forbes did a story in 2011 that the coast to attend your normal four-year college is worth $100,000-$147,000, depending on state residency.

No.
If getting upwards of $100,000 education(for a better future) and a chance to hone their skills to make millions if talented enough, isn't enough... then let them get into the work force like most of their h.s. classmates have to do.

Don't think so. Could be wrong. My guess is that because men's sports are typically larger revenue drivers that this is a no-go.
