There is a question up on PowerMizzou that says:
Would you rather be a national championship contender and bend a few rules? Or run a clean program, but average about 8 wins a year?
I am actually pretty curious to hear what yall have to say on this.

I'd sell my soul for fourteen and oh.

Do we get caught? Jk, but not really.
I'd rather be an honest 8-10 win program... but I will say, if you're going to be honest and clean, it would be nice to have a the national reputation of a clean and honest program.

Let's bend some rules. shite, all of our conference mates are doing it.

It would be an average of 8. So over the course of each 4 years. You maybe have a 10 win once every 4 years, but you also have a 6.

I definitely thought you would be in the other camp.

If we had a 14-0 season, and it smelled funny, a la Cam, would you still be veclempt at 0:00 NCG? I sure as shite would. I'll bitch about it later, I've watched a few teams I knew we're dirty and still enjoyed it. frick it, I'm in.

We're bending rules as it is now. To what extent and is it equal to other programs? Hard to say. I think its naive to think all BCS teams are not bending/breaking rules.

Is this a trick question?
It depends on what the definition of "is" is.

This is for sure. I'm convinced all schools have a "book" on how far they can go without getting caught, and how far they can go probably has ALOT to do with donors and rivals.
Well, guess what, we don't have any rivals, now is the time to rewrite the book, and find the boosters that will fork over the dough. kU is dead. frick it. Write the checks.

Ok, well define where your breaking point is. To what extent is too far? Are you willing to go further than other programs?

No trick question. Just gauging people's opinion. Which would you take?

I like the honesty road and no NCG.
On the other hand, breaking a few harmless rules to help get to a NC might be worth the risk in the end.
But not being a destination end for top football recruits, we would probably have to break some major rules to have any affect, so....
I'm back to my first comment. I'd rather be playing in a bowl every year and clean than the other.

I'm on board with this. It would have to be insignificant enough that if we got caught, wouldn't suffer major penalties, bans, or stripping of the title. We Mizzou fans have suffered enough over the years and we would just crumble.

Not sure what the answer is as far as how far but it is naive to think we're not already bending the rules, everyone does. I saw it in lesser sports at NAIA schools so there's no doubt it's happening at every single Division 1 school in the country in the biggest sport in college athletics.

As long as we do not get the death penalty go ahead and break some rules. I love sound of Your 2015 national champion Missouri Tigers.

There is no doubt we and everyone else bends the rules. It's just part of the sports culture. Knowing and understanding where the line is not to be crossed is what I would worry about in this situation.

Lets get a bagman and some crazy boosters and go all auburn on this league. Time to bend the rules ladies and gents, i don't wanna be 6-6 again next year.
