To steal a line from Clint Eastwood, "Deserve's got nothin' to do with it."
Unless Florida finishes in the top 4 and earns an automatic bid, it is completely at the discretion of the BCS bowls to choose any eligible team (14 or higher) up to the per conference limit. The winner of the SECCG gets an auto bid, but everyone else in the top 14 is fair game for that second at large bid. If the Fiesta or Rose Bowl want to grab a 10-2 LSU or 10-2 A&M instead of an 11-1 Florida, they can do it. The bowls choose teams based upon two factors: (1) ticket sales; and, (2) TV ratings. It's not hard to make a case for this year's Florida being less attractive than some 2-loss teams on those criteria.
