With a marriage, 3 kids, a mortgage, a job, and with the holidays coming up, anyone going all Updyke has serious mental issues.
It is just a game. I like to win, but a loss is not as bad as it used to be.

You're rationalizing. Not sure which step this is in the grieving process, but good luck with it. Depression is a bitch.
