I will say, this team will be completely different from last year's, given transfers and new recruits (J-Mych baby!), so it's got to be hard to rank us in general.

Hard to replace an NBA player and you guys lost one.

He was injured on-and-off. It's not like we're replacing Acie Law or DeAndre Jordan

Honest out look for your dawgs this season? I seriously have no clue who's left other than Steele.

Who is in the NBA that was on our roster last season? I'd really like to know this.

We have 8 healthy scholarship players, 4 of whom are freshmen. We have a new HC in Ray who will have our guys playing hard and giving effort, but we just don't have the talent. I expect us only to win 8-10 games this year.

Steele is our only returning starter, and Wendell Lewis our only other returning player with any experience.

JUCO PF Colin Bortchert will stretch the defense with his shooting and freshmen guards Fred Thomas and Craig Sword will improve as the season goes along.

They beat us in a close game. The fact that we are playing there and they are opening their new arena gives them the edge.

Gonna be a long long year Bryant.

Yikes. Maybe Ray can coach them up, but that's going to be rough. Especially when conference play starts.

Any bright spots from the exhibition game? SEC basketball is the only time I pull for the conference as a whole.

I'd love nothing more to be a conference with 5+ teams dancing year after year, but football just takes up too many resources at some schools.

I thought Middleton got cut. Shows how much I follow the NBA nowadays.

Did it end up being close? I just saw the halftime score.

On another note, from what I saw from the Rebs it's dance or AK needs to rent a U Haul. Henderson, Newby, Perez, and Brutus are legit.

Troy hit a 3 with 2 seconds left to win 56-53.

Ole Miss should be really good this year, I like Henderson's game and the Holloway/Buckner combo will be tough.

Damn, thats a rough start. Like I said earlier, I pull for the whole SEC in basketball so hopefully y'all can put it together next game.

Henderson has the JJ Reddick white boy swag and the shot to match it. Buck and Murph need to stop putting the ball on the floor though. They both wanted to be guards tonight.

Henderson is a different type of player than JJ! He reminds me more of Ben Hansborough type player.

Thoughts/rankings after tonight's games:

1. Kentucky - Meh. They didn't look great tonight, but I have them here by default.

2. Florida - We looked solid. Yeguete, Murphy, and Young should be one of the best frontcourts in the league. Boynton is an elite scorer. But we need our point guard back - turnovers were an issue in the first half. At full strength, we can win the conference.

3. Mizzou - I haven't seen them yet, but their backcourt is really deep and talented.

4. Alabama - They're tough. The backcourt is quick, athletic, and its shooting should improve. Pollard will get better with more PT.

5. Tennessee - Might struggle without Maymon. Their guard play is suspect. Stokes will dominate.

6. Ole Miss - Henderson will score a lot of points. Buckner and Holloway will get a lot of rebounds. NCAA tourney or bust.

7. Arkansas - Depth shouldn't be a problem this year. Rebounding and road play could be concerns, though. Bubble team.

8. LSU - The newcomers look better than most services give them credit for. Hickey and O'Bryant are two pieces Jones can build around.

9. Texas A&M - Fabyon Harris is legit. Elston Turner is one of the better scorers in the conference. Post play will determine how successful this team will be.

10. Vanderbilt - Unknown.

11. Georgia - If Fox continues to recruit like he's still at Nevada, he'll never be successful in the SEC. John Florveus, Sherrard Brantley, and Vincent Williams are NOT SEC-level players. KCP is a beast, though.

12. Auburn - Barbee has some talented yet raw newcomers and some not very talented seniors. Frankie Sullivan is by far their best player.

13. South Carolina - Solid backcourt, but they'll have the worst frontcourt in the conference.

14. Mississippi State - Ouch. They're going to be painful to watch.

These look about right.

After watching LSU tonight, we may make some noise in the SEC this year. But I'm not getting my hopes up
