This is coming from someone I know personally that works in the athletic department.

Supposedly Saban was extremely impressed with how we played them. He was impressed with Freeze to the point that Saban and Freeze speak weekly and have become friends. Supposedly Saban has told Freeze he would talk up Ole Miss to recruits that Bama didn't have room for.

If this is indeed true it is amazing how fast Freeze gained the respect of arguably the best coach in the nation.

While I realize Freeze is gaining respect from other coaches, I think this sounds retarded.

This is true.. He called freeze to clear up what he said about spread offenses in college football and they talked for a little while. He wanted to make sure he understood the media was taking what he said the wrong way and it wasnt a knock on freeze's system he was installing. They talk on a weekly basis now.

Saban liked freeze's attitude taking over ole miss and likes the intensity we played with so he has a lot of respect for freeze for what he is doing here.

I was extremely impressed with how Freeze handled Bama. Freeze outcoached Saban, he just didn't have the talent to beat them. I think Saban himself may have seen that he was outcoached for the first time in years. I actually like Saban alot, since he's not a shite talker, he backs his shite up with excellence, and is not cocky at all.

You'd think he would do it with a non-SEC West team though. He's farming a yearly match if this is true.

I don't understand why a coach would want to help a team out in their own division. I hope I'm wrong though.

Well think about it...
Every program can't take every kid that they think is a good player. Just not enough room. Bama, Florida, UGA, Auburn and LSU are on the same level recruiting wise. Just as if Bama didn't have room for a kid, those programs probably wouldn't either. You can also imagine Saban isn't looking to do LSU or Auburn any favors. He certainly wouldn't help out UT and you have to believe there is a huge ego competition between Spurrier and Saban, so no help there. Arkansas and UK don't have coaches and A&M recruits 99% Texas while Pinkel is a breath away from retirement. That leaves Hugh Freeze, Dan Mullen, and James Franklin left to help. Which of those three do you think Saban likes the most?

as do I but its almost certainly not

makes no sense for saban to go out of his way to steer players to us who he has to play every year. I can see him answering questions that recruits ask him about ole miss and freeze in a nonnegative way, but to steer good players to a team you have to play every year would be dumb... and sabans not dumb

Well that's what I thought but what about the excess ... One can hope ...
