This article scares me because I think some folks want to keep Chizik, but change other folks...
LINK
---------------------

It means that decisions, no doubt made in good faith, have blown up in Chizik's face. It means the culture of Auburn football must change and change quickly or the program could be facing a nuclear winter unequaled in modern school history.

Is Chizik, halfway through his fourth season, the man to make those changes? Is he willing to make those changes? If he's not the man to make those changes, then who is?

I think we keep Chizik. Like I posted before, when you figure in buyout for him, his assistant coaches, contract for a new coach and his assistants. You're 15-20 million dollars. If we could get Saban, I can see us spending that cash. But unfortunately, there's not a Saban type guy on the market right now. Clean out the AD, etc., and make a move next year if we need to. Our problem goes beyond the HC and changing Chizik would only patch the problem, not correct it.

Doesn't really scare me. He is saying some changes could be made or it couldn't he doesnt know. But he knows our team and fanbase deserve better.

Before we lost to Arkansas, I was of this train of thought. However, since then we have lost to Ole Miss and Vanderbilt only leaving Kentucky out of the trifecta of bottom feeders. This should never happen.

I dont think Chizik can fire Trooper, Pelton, Yox, Martinez, and Laughfler (to name a few), tell Dye, Tim Jackson, et al to back off, and take complete control of the program a la Tubberville. He's a great person but if a change is not made now, Auburn might not recover

Auburn will and can recover. The question is when? We have talent on the team, we need conditioning, sound fundamental teaching, discpline...etc. And you need the kids to completely buy in to what you are doing, otherwise it won't work and will not be as successful.

Keeping Chizik would show what a dumpster fire we have when it comes to leadership at Auburn.

Anyone know the buyouts for assistants, and their current salaries? Becuase paying them for another year to then fire them doesn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense either. If we're really crunching the numbers then i'd like to see those.

Would be really tough to support this team next year with Chizik still at the helm. There would be no excitement before the season and I would bet an equally as horrific season. Changes need to be made this season.

Agreed. I believe they have to nip it at the bud here.

Take a read. Combine that with hiring a new coach/staff, and you can see where it gets tricky. Not impossible, but I can't justify hiring a up-and-comer with this much money on the line.

That's exactly why I think you fire these guys now and bring in Petrino. He saves the buyout from another school.

Yes, but they must look for a job, VanGorder will quickly get a job. Others would follow, but you also have to pay the buyout of a potential coach.

We paid Tubs a boat load of money to get him to leave and hired Chizik. It just makes sense to grab a guy like Petrino now when we don't have to pay another school to let him go.

For comparison, UT will have to pay 5.6 to Dooley and the total is up to 9.3 when including assistants... ...
