About 17% of Tennessee is AA, so that's about 1 million people. Memphis and Nashville certainly seemed to have some "urban" areas when I have been there previously. I don't see how those "urban" areas are much rougher than some places in other SEC states but maybe I am missing something.

I could certainly understand how Tennessee may not be AS strong as some other states in terms of talent but it seems like it just drops off the table. Do people not like HS football there or something?

It's all NASCAR and College Football there.

Which isn't much unlike the rest of SEC states, but I never hear anything about High School Football there.

My experience though is basically a year in Knoxville. So not long.

Does most of the talent just go toward basketball? They've won in the past so I am a bit unsure why it's so barren at the moment.

memphis hs coaches send their recruits to bama (after appropriate payment has been received). nashville kids are into soccer, steeple chase, cricket and ice hockey.
