I know everybody is incredibly frustrated - including me - about what's been going on with Dawgs. Getting totally destroyed in big games, no effort, players calling each other out, etc.

But, if you take a step back, this is all playing out pretty much the only way it could given the circumstances when McGarity was originally brought on board. Consider:

-He gave CMR the "what do you need to win?" talk, or better known in corporate circles as enough rope to hang yourself;
-Last year was the year to let these changes set in;
-This year we had all the tools (except maybe O-line), a pleasant surprise at RB, and a cake schedule;
-We still manage to totally shite the bed against SC in a fashion that is so terrible even the commentators are shocked;
-We now are playing uninspired, have players calling each other out and are realistically staring at 1 or 2 more losses this season; and
-If this continues into next year, we could be looking at 3 losses within the first 4 games.

You don't become a big time, D1 AD by making snap decisions in what is obviously a very political environment. These guys play chess not checkers and have made a career in not sticking their necks too far out. This is part of a multi-year strategy for CMR to either fish or cut bait...and we're currently right in the middle of it. I don't get the multi-year contract extension, but without knowing what's in it, it may or may not have teeth based on performance....we just don't know.

I would contend that with Adams leaving and the direction this team is heading - not to mention the 2013 schedule - CMR will be gone at the end of next season and it won't be a controversy. McG will be a hero because at that time everyone from the New Pres to the biggest Booster to the rednecks from south Ga who have never even been to Athens will be begging for it.

You may not GAS or it may all be painfully obvious but I had to get this off my chest. Now buckle up and enjoy the ride...GO DAWGS!!

I know for a fact that if we went 8-4 last year Richt was going to be fired. McGarity knows what he's doing (a lot better than Evans anyway), it's just such a fine line to fire a guy who could potentially go 11-2, win a NYD bowl game, and finish in the top 10.

But I do feel that McGarity is more in tune with the program than DE and he will make a decision in a timely manner. If it's not this year (which it won't be unless we collapse), then surely next year after we lose about 4 games he will.

I also, still thinking McGarity knows what he's doing. I felt the same as you about giving CMR what he needed, so he could pull the plug when the time came.
CMR's new contract has no where near the buyout incentives of his last contract. We can cut ties next year without a great financial burdern.
Good post.

After looking at the 2013 schedule, next year is going to resolve this problem one way or another and our record will be all the ammo that's needed.

I just don't see CMR turning this around...I wish I was wrong.

I don't see how he couldn't and almost wonder if he'd welcome a change. He has the attitude of a guy who knows he should be doing something else but can't bring himself to make the decision to move on.

Just my two cents.

This is true. None of us really knows the man so we dont know for sure what hes thinking and feeling but, he absolutely LOOKS to be more stressed and has that hunted look in his eyes this season that I havent seen in the past past.

He has also had a shorter fuse with the press than in previous years. He used to laugh off the pressing questions. Now, he ignores and deflects until he sees they arent going to stop asking them and he gets a bit cranky. He knows his time is measured.

His demeanor certainly carries over to the players, no excitement, no passion or fire - I dated a chick like that once .... sadly I married her.

Just kidding my bitch is a freak.

You must be the romantic type. I was looking for the "to my bitch, the freak" cards for Valentine's day last year but the Hallmark store was sold out.

Now this is the type of post I like to see from new posters. Not like that dumbass "Will we shite the bed again" thread I saw earlier.

Go to Spencer's. I swear I saw a women's shirt in there one day that said "You're face just made my pussy go dry"

Yes, but it might take many more years. For the same reason McGarity was likely reluctant to make a decisive change in his first 2 years on the job, I don't think a new school president will either. Richt has a likable personality and a lot of support inside and out of the university. Heck he's on Ford commercials often every week. Honestly, I think it will take Richt making a personal decision to move on for it to happen. Two losing seasons in a row might do it but given our in-state talent, Mark will always have enough talented individuals to at least have a winning record and the fact is he has won 10 games most seasons.

I see our situation with Richt pretty much analogous to VT with Frank Beamer only Richt is a lot younger and more personable. Beamer has been at VT since 1987 and is 66 years old. Don't be surprised if Richt retires from UGA at a ripe old age.
