He's done the unthinkable at South Carolina. But has yet to touch the unimaginable.

As upset as I am about the past two games, if you would have told me 10, hell 5 years ago that South Carolina was a consistent Top 25 team and constantly winning even just 8-10 games I would have called you a liar and a fool.

Big difference in recruiting at South Carolina and at Florida...

Big difference in QB play as well...

Shane Matthews, Terry Dean, Danny Weurffel, Doug Johnson (despite the headscratching decisions), Noah Brindise, Jessie Palmer, and Rex Grossman.

vs.

Blake Mitchell, Chris Smelley, Stephen Garcia, and Connor Shaw.

BIG difference. And I won't even start talking comparing the skill positional players. Lattimore is good, but is he as good as Fred Taylor and Terry Jackson? No...

Jacquez Green, Reidel Anthony, and Ike Hilliard? Travis Taylor, Reche Caldwell, Jabar Gaffney? Travis McGriff?

No comparison at all.

What Spurrier has done at South Carolina is amazing. Just look at their history before he got there, compared to now.

I know it's human nature to give your current coach all the credit for success, but do USCe fans give Lou any credit for building the program?

I am no expert on gamecock football, but it seems to me Lou Holtz took it from putrid to respectable, and then Spurrier took it from respectable to consistently top 25.
