Vandy schedule changes for 2013
Dropped :
Ohio State
Northwestern
Granted I can see dropping Ohio State but I liked Vandy playing 2 AQ's OOC instead of the 1 AQ and 1 NAQ schedule most other's do. I think Mizzou is the only other double scheduler (Arizona State and Syracuse) in the SEC right now. Northwestern in the beginning and Wake Forest at the end was a nice bookend schedule. If they dropped Northwestern then pick up another private from across the USA instead of UAB.

I really don't mind them getting out of the OSU game, but I rather liked the Northwestern matchup. I wish they scheduled more games against schools in similar situations to themselves (Northwestern, Rice, Duke, etc...)

I don't really understand this logic, tbh. I get the sense of "camaraderie" there is between these type of schools, but it does nothing except enforce the perception that we are a small time, wine and cheese program.

I think you can differentiate between AQ's and non AQ's. Notre Dame plays no FCS schools and -0- non AQ schools. Not saying you mix it up at a high level but why not do the same thing with lesser AQ schools?
Game 1 = Army
Game 2 = Indiana
Game 3 = Uconn
Game 4 = Wake Forest
ACC series
Maryland - Washington / Miami - Miami / Boston College - Boston / Georgia Tech - Atlanta
Virginia / Duke / Wake Forest - for AQ games
B12 series
TCU and Baylor = AQ games
vs
SMU and Rice = non AQ
Playing Baylor and TCU gets more SoS love than the CUSA schools
Big East
Temple - Philadelphia / South Florida - Tampa / Uconn - east coast
B1G
Northwestern or Illinois - Chicago / Minnesota - Minneapolis / Indiana - straight up I-65
IND
Army / Navy
PAC
Arizona / Colorado

Navy every year. Army on occasion. Tulsa in the past few years.

Army and Navy as IND were on the border and Navy will be AQ in the Big East. If Army winds up there at some point it would not surprise me. As service academies they are schools with former history and National Championships.
On Tulsa, I missed that game but Notre Dame plays a very AQ intensive schedule and not sure if any others get close to that. In any case pretty sure Notre Dame does not schedule FCS schools.

Didn't we have to drop them because of the SEC schedule being released? The Ohio State game conflicted with Ole Miss, and the NW game conflicted with something else. I thought that's how we got out of the contracts without penalties.
And in any case, I'm happy with it. We had 5 OOC opponents on the slate, so we had to drop someone regardless. Ohio State away was a bad idea for a team that is trying to counter an image that Vandy and bowling don't mix. While sticking with NW could have been cool, I actually like the UMass home and home. Getting the chance to play at Gillette? That's incredible. Plus, we need to maximize the number of home games. Austin Peay and the rest help with that.
