Let's keep this discussion in here. Who do you want, why, etc.

I want an NFL coach to help with recruiting. But maybe I'm stupid to think that helps. What say y'all? Jack Del Rio would be one that isn't on a lot of radars

First on my list would be Gruden, but that is highly unlikely.

I think it is time to pay up and get a proven winner. UT should be a destination job, not a stepping stone.

We all want Gruden.

My Non-Jon suggestions: Gary Patterson, Charlie Strong, Larry Fedora, and maybe Dana Holgorsen

I don't think Gruden will come. it'd be fricking awesome if accepts the job though.

Chris Petersen will not leave. he'll think about it if it's Texas HC job or something.

Petrino is unemployed and he'll win if he comes to UT. too much baggage and bad publicity though.

not really sold on Charlie Strong either.

Dana Holgersen's offense won't work in the SEC.

so basically I don't even know who UT should go after. Gruden will be the best possible scenario /home run hire. I'd be okay with consolation prize Petrino too.

Not as unlikely as you might think.

Gary Patterson

Will probably be Texas's next head coach.

Dana Holgorsen

Got completely exposed against TT. I like watching his teams a lot, but I'm not sure he'd fit SEC style.

Charlie Strong

I like him a lot. Strong SEC ties and can recruit damn well. I just want somebody with more bang to the name and more proven.

I think if we don't get Gruden, we throw a shite load of money at Stoops.

The only problem is that we may not have a shite load of money to throw...

I'll go with the obvious Chavis and Cutcliffe.

If anyone says Gruden, they are disqualified.

The Haslams and Thunder Thornton disagree.

Cutcliffe had his chance last time and turned it down. He can stay at Duke.

I've heard numerous times than money will not be an issue.

You're a horrible fan.

1. Gruden
2. Holgorsen
3. Peterson
4. Patterson
5. Strong
6. Sonny Dykes

ETA: I would have put Petrino in there, but I just don't think the powers that be would go for it. I would love it, though. He is an excellent coach.
