Some pretty good stuff here covering the first two practices for the 2012-2013 Wildcats.

Now that Big Blue Madness is over, the real fun begins for John Calipari’s Wildcats.
With 20 hours a week at his disposal, Coach Cal ran his team through two practices on Saturday at the Joe Craft Center. Calipari and his staff were afforded limited amounts of time with the team during the preseason, but now is when the real business takes place.
The morning practice was focused on offense while the afternoon featured a mix of the Dribble Drive and some defensive principles. The afternoon practice is the first time Calipari has worked with his team on defense this year.

Some interesting notes from the write-up:
- Archie Goodwin is going to be this year's MKG. He has that tough, bounce back mentality and it's starting to show.
- Noel is being encouraged to "play through the bumps and get his hands on the ball". Cal apparently thinks he's quick enough that once that happens the opposition will have a hard time playing him with his face to the basket. He showed nice touch around the basket but was showing some fatigue (which Cal made him stay out there to fight through).
- They're doing a LOT of rebounding and pad drills.
- The best matchup of the day was apparently between Kyle Wiltjer and Alex Poythress. Poythress is clearly more physical but Wiltjer's craftiness got the better of him. It was also noted that Wiltjer is a lot stronger then he was a season ago in the post, that he was able to move defenders with his back to the basket, and then go for the kill shot with that baby hook.

What are your guys expectations for this season? I would like to see them at least make it to the elite 8.
