The problem with it is that money was not actually raised (there were some non-binding pledges), and that any projections for increased future ticket sales also have to account for an immediate loss of 5,000 tickets per game because the city will no longer support it if it's not at a city venue.
If anything, Mackin should start a true capital campaign and get real dollars flowing in for the construction of new facilities. I'd be happy to contribute.

The UAB OCS is basically the same dumpster fire the UA BoT put us through with Jimbo Fisher. We had raised the money to hire him but were told no. So we ended up with that shitty coach, Calloway.
The UA BoT doesn't want UAB to grow in football, which makes zero sense. We're not after the same recruits and we're not an SEC caliber team.
