I also would like to know, for those of us who are making the trip to columbia but don't have tix to the game .... would it be recommended to just go downtown to watch the game or are there any places around the stadium (bars, restaurants) that would be okay?

Go to the Vista or 5 points to watch the game if you are not going in. Although there should be plenty of folks with TVs at their tailgates as well.

There are no bars around the stadium... So downtown. If you want to party with college kids go to 5 points, if you want a slightly older crowd go to the Vista.

there are many private tailgates w/ big screens that have people that don't go to the game. i would imagine that would be more the case. i'm sure you can poach on someone so long as you bring your own beer and are civil.
